MS ACCESS® 2003 RUNTIME ISSUES:

This version of Tritex Accounting only runs in Windows Server 2000 and 2003, and in Windows 2000 and XP operating systems, leaving Windows 95, 98, Me and NT to require an upgrade. The new version recommends that the end user determine if Microsoft Access 2003 or Microsoft Office Access 2003 Runtime is installed on their machine previous to running setup. If neither of the above MS Access 2003 flavors is present, you are then advised to precede the Tritex Accounting setup with the MS Access 2003 Runtime setup, otherwise skip the setup of the Runtime. We have provided the MS Access 2003 Runtime in case you will need it.

Setup of the Microsoft Office 2003 or the Microsoft Office Access 2003 Runtime may require an operating system such as Windows 2000 Pro to be upgraded to Windows 2000 Service Pack 3. Although the Windows Update website offers the Service Pack 4 update, it may cause multiple 'procedure entry point' dll errors in several applications, with the final solution having been to download the Network flavor and to run the update from your hard disk. You may browse to Microsoft's Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 Network Install for IT Professionals to obtain this preferred service pack.

One of the issues with the MS Access 2003 Runtime is that only one MS Access Runtime is recommended to be installed in a given machine. Therefore if you run other applications with the MS Access 97, 2000 or 2002 Runtimes then do not install Tritex Accounting unless you have MS Access 2003, or upgrade the other applications. However, regular MS Access 97, 2000 or 2002 can coexist in the same machine with the MS Access 2003 Runtime, with the only constraints involving the execution of separate revisions at the same time, as the 'Preparing to Install' configuration would be attempting to associate the Windows session to an MS Access version. BK Consultants cannot be held accountable for any DLL or application compatibility problems you may run into while incorporating the Microsoft Office Access 2003 Runtime in your machine's environment. The latest Tritex Accounting application will run once you have the Runtime or full MS Access successfully installed.

Another MS Access 2003 Runtime issue is the uninstall, which should never be performed from the Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. The uninstall should always be run from the original setup program, by selecting the Uninstall option. Also, do not uninstall the MS Access Runtime App program we provide to prove you have the 2003 Runtime, or else the actual Runtime will need a re-install. A Runtime uninstall from the original setup program will also remove the App we provide.

The 'MS Access 2003 RunTime App' program only determines that you have the 2003 Runtime. Should you install it when you already had Office 2000 setup in other than the default path C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office then you may need to modify the Start Menu target for the RunTime App to reflect your path and not the default path, but this is necessary only to prove you installed the Runtime. The Runtime would install itself on an 'Office11' sub-folder, while Office 2000 resides in an 'Office' sub-folder.

One final issue with the MS Access 2003 Runtime's uninstall is its requirement of the exact original path for setup and all related files, therefore always perform setup from a final storage location. This problem does not apply to the Tritex Accounting™ setup, which does not require the exact original media for an uninstall.

Tritex Accounting Ver 6.0 INSTALLATION NOTES:

The following setup instructions are also provided by the TRITEX setup program, while you may currently print them from this page.

You should abort the installation if the installation drive's free space is insufficient. The system date should be correctly set previous to the installation. If your operating system employs a taskbar, it is suggested not to select the 'Always on top' option when the screen resolution is less than 800 x 600, or else some screens would get truncated when running this program. Some toolbars may also obstruct screen areas, such as the application's title bar. In addition, certain display schemes, employing larger font sizes or different styles, may obstruct certain title bar information. Regardless of the display settings, it is recommended to set the appearance scheme to one resembling Windows Standard.

It is also recommended that you accept the default Tritex Accounting program group, while the installation path may be changed to a different local machine location.

Installation Steps:

Please note that Demo versions cannot modify file names and locations and may not run in multi-user mode. Any references to sharing data refer to validated licenses. If this is your first installation please advance to step (d) below.

a) Determine and create a shared path in the computer designated to hold the TRITEX data file. We will refer to this machine as the 'Main Station', although it could be a dedicated server.

b) Connect to this path or map a network drive from each workstation which will be running TRITEX. Please skip this step on the Main Station.

c) If you do not have a current set of the TRITEX data file previous to this installation then advance to the next step. Else place the TRITEX data on the specified shared path and give it a name of your choice while trailing it with the '.mdb' suffix. Use discretion when utilizing long filenames. We suggest a short filename using up to 8 characters to the left of the period. Validated licenses will allow TRITEX to be connected to any data path and filename.

d) Install TRITEX on the local drive of the Main Station. The installation will temporarily set the program to a demo version. If you already have your data file, which is stated on the previous step, then you may link the program to the specific company's shared data file. If you do not already have this data file in your machine then let the program setup YOURCO60.MDB as your demo data file, which you may later copy or rename once the license is validated. This step completes installation on the Main Station except for upgrading from the demo version which is performed later via the TRITEX Validation procedure in each workstation. Please note that should TRITEX be already linked to the YOURCO60.MDB data in the program's directory then it would not be necessary to perform the above links until the time of license validation is reached.

e) Install TRITEX on the local drive of all other workstations. Validated licenses will allow it to link to any shared company data file, which has already been installed, or to the above mentioned YOURCO60.MDB data file. Otherwise, each workstation will have separate data files. After completion of this step on all TRITEX stations you may proceed to run the TRITEX demonstrations for a period of 30 days or you may permanently Validate TRITEX on all workstations which will allow it to run indefinitely in each specific machine. Each station's validation procedure requires that the Company Name and License Number be assigned and recorded. From the main menu, select Help on the menu bar, then the Validate/Devalidate menu item. This dialog will provide distributor information, and your License Number and Hardware ID, which you then email, fax, or telephone in to the specific distributor, including your name, email address and telephones. Given the License Number and Hardware ID, the distributor then returns an unlock key for that specific machine, after each license is purchased. Once the unlock key is entered, the program will then ask for the Licensed-to Title, and will permanently validate the license on that computer. You may link to the specific distributor's web order form from the same set of menu items. If your computer does not provide an Internet connection, then the program will provide you with contact information.

GENERAL PROGRAM SETTINGS:

Note that these settings apply to each separate company's data file, which may be created, once you validate a license, and wish to either start from scratch, or from the same demo data, which you previously entered. To start from scratch, locate your program's directory, make a copy of the template.dat file to trail with the '.mdb' suffix, and to reside in a shared path, other than the program's directory. Then start Tritex Accounting, advance to Manager Tasks, then to File Locations and Links, and link the program to the specified data file. To keep the demo's data, then make a copy of Yourco60.mdb instead. Note that Yourco60.mdb resides in the program's directory. Each separate company will require fine tuning, which is stated below. Also note that, should you desire only some of the demo data, then proceed and start from scratch, as stated above, then link to the demo, to copy to the clipboard, then link to the new company, to paste from the clipboard. More complex data conversions and transfers are available for a nominal fee.

1. One of the first tasks involves security by user. This program is initially provided with users ‘master’ and ‘guest’ and no password for either one. The ‘guest’ user is assigned all permissions except for the Manager Tasks, which allow preferential, G/L links, data links and other routines to be accessed. It may be used as an example for new users which you create. You should only allow the manager the above setup privileges. It is recommended that the ‘master’ password be immediately created. Only accounts with minimal permissions could be left without a password. You must then pick the system preferences from the Manager Tasks menu. The Company File Maintenance and Messages programs are one and the same, while only the manager has access to the Maintenance version, which allows access to G/L Account links, automatic numbering sequences, to the company name and address and to other parameters. The Messages version only allows maintenance of Invoice, Statement and P/O messages. The Manager Tasks menu includes the Logo Maintenance program, where two company logos are available per company, one is the main menu's screen logo and the other will be automatically linked to all of TRITEX's reports. Current users which are reinstalling TRITEX may simply browse for their specified logo in the shared disk. New users may supply their own bitmapped files, request the scan of existing stationery or simply create the logos themselves. For instance, you could load Microsoft ® WordArt, a Paint or Paintbrush bitmap or any other type of object as the logo. One simple method would involve invoking Paint or Paitbrush and selecting the text tool to position the words accordingly. However, you must embed the object since linking would slow down and greatly increase the size of the TRITEX program. Once the logo is taken care of the program will automatically be terminated to allow reinitialization to take place. Once you re-start the program your screen logo will appear on the main menu and all reports will include the report logo. Each link to new data files will require new logo assignments. You are now ready to choose the system preferences. Certain items will not be available when sales order statuses other than 2, 8, 9 or 10 are present. Simply process the orders further or delete them previous to changing preferences. Also, you may not switch both Picking and Proformas ON at the same time.

2. You must go over the supplied Chart of Accounts file and any changes need to be also reflected in the Company File account links, the Income Statement and Balance Sheet setup screens, the Memo Type account links and the optional Manufacturer File account links.

3. Enter at least one salesperson by using the provided numbering convention or maintain the provided samples. Verify the sample entries in all of the following files and select the default Salesperson, Country, P/O Default Ship-to, Customer Price Level, A/R and A/P Terms codes and Customer and Vendor Types.

4. Enter your customers and vendors. It is suggested that you use the keyboard as if it were a typewriter, whereby you capitalize names only on the first letter thus allowing your information to appear more legible and long names to take up less space. In any case, Windows conventions allow case sensitivity to be recognized or ignored when performing searches. All the characters of certain codes such as Customer, Vendor, Terms and the Inventory key are automatically capitalized as they are typed in. Assign the Default Inventory Resale code to the Company file, the Default Ship-Via to each Vendor, and the Default P/O Ship-to to a Ship-to record, else the Company File is the P/O Ship-to. Sales Tax codes and rates may be maintained in the Ship-to and the Company files but only validated licenses allow such Company area to be accessed. If you will use customer price levels, then assign the default price level for new customer entries.

5. Design the Inventory Code unless you depend on imports of new products or their new prices from supplier catalogue media. Design your pricing and taxing methods. You are now ready to run TRITEX. Please note that partial or incorrect G/L links will not invalidate all other detailed aspects of the application, however, it is recommended that the Chart of Accounts be at least generalized before implementing normal operations. Note that the G/L file will be constantly growing upon initialization of all control reports and therefore you should help prevent future additional work.

UNINSTALL INFORMATION:
